Based on the study Redesigning Deltas, a research project led by TU Delft, designers and Delta communities will explore concrete design strategies and jointly formulate a Manifesto for the Now.
5 design firms examined 5 Deltas:
LIMBURG: Defacto, Vista and Arcadis
RIVER CORRIDOR-WAAL: Fabrications, Bosch Slabbers and Tauw
ROTTERDM: De Urbanisten, Lola Landscapes and Royal Haskoning DHV
MIDDEN DELFLAND: ZUS, Flux and Sweco
ZEELAND: Studio Hartzema, Feddes-Olthof and Witteveen & Bos
These firms have experimented with previous path dependencies and devised new relationships that can bring about fundamental system changes.
Urbanization leads to unsustainable growth and a shifting time horizon in delta management increase the urgency of the environmental crisis in Deltas. Moreover, an opportunity for a »reset« is presenting itself. Transformations in the Delta are therefore desperately needed. What are ways and opportunities for sustainable and inclusive Delta development? The time for transformative change is NOW.
During this session, the agency will engage in a dialogue with the Delta community to jointly develop an agenda and future actions for the Delta.
